I think it is absolutely disgraceful and I seriously shook my head in absolute disgust when I heard about this game. It is sickening and I cannot believe that this idea was actually approved by the many, many people who have to approve these video-game ideas. And to time it exactly for the anniversary of JFK's death is just unbelieveably sick. There's just no other word for it at all. It's just sick.
When you think about it though, I guess this could really only happen in America.... One of our country's greatest leaders is assasinated in front of a crowd of people and the nation is completely devastated, and then 40 years later we're making a video game out of it. It just really is astonishing.

Not really sure what to make of it. I think it might be disrespectful, but it might very well help teach history to a new generation and demonstrate if there was one shooter or two.
I'd have to actually go rent it and see how it is presented to gauge how disrespectful it is. I think people will definately learn more from it than I did from the Marios Bros. and Zelda though
I see your point and maybe games like GTA shouldn't be so widely marketed the way they are, but I don't think a game like that insults our country's honor or past, it's just a dumb little game that's more or less no different than any Scorsese movie or Tarantino flick. JFK Reloaded (sheesh even the name is unbelieveable) is an insult to America. I don't want to say that killing a hundred gangsters is not as bad as killing the President, but GTA is all one big fantasy and no one in that game is real, so it doesn't degrate anyone at all.

GTA is really no different than a cartoon with fictious violent scenarios. In many respects so are Tarentino's movies. The violent scenarios (to many not all) are morbidly amusing because they are not real or really happening to anybody we know. The coyote falls over and over again over cliffs pursuing the road runner. JFK was assassinated, whether it was Oswald or not who pulled the trigger. Maybe we should come out with a new car chase game where Princess Diana is trying to outrun the paparazzi.....oops. I'm sure that's coming next, what a sad world we live in.
I haven't seen the game or played it, but it seems to me that the game makers are hoping to cash in on the free publicity of the assassination anniversary and possible renewed debate on the merits of the Warren Report.
The claim that the game will stimulate a new generation to learn history sounds like an excuse to give the game "redeeming social merit" and to deflect criticism from the game as being merely a sensationalist cash grab.

You're absolutely right, historical education was nothing more than an excuse by the game designers.

I'd hadn't read that article. I read several other reviews and articles from poeple that had already seen the game that all had similar content. In fact, I couldn't find one that said the game actually had redeeming values.
The other part that I found out that really pissed me off was the $100,000 reward.
Does no one realize that they are essentially offering a $100,000 bounty for killing JFK?
Sure, it's a video game, but give me a break. Initially, I had an open mind and thought that attempting to shoot JFK might be a small part of the game and the rest of the content might have been of great educational benfit. This hasn't been portrayed in a respectful or very educational means. It's basically shoot JFK and get $100,000.
I'm going to my local game store to protest..........

Setting aside the offensive (to me) content, the game is a sham.
Originally posted by Saint NickYeah but, and I haven't really read the article thoroughly, is there any reputable video game carrier out there (Blockbuster, Best Buy, etc) that would carry this in their stores? I seriously doubt it. This is just some sad publicity hike that feeds off all attention, good or bad. The best way to diffuse it is to not give it any energy.
