i'm trying to find out how far i run when i go jogging, but i don't have a map of my town. does anyone know of any decent online maps where i would be able to work out the distance? or, indeed, any other ways of calculating how far i go? short of cycling the distance with a speedometer...

Go to London and run the marathon course. That way you'll know you've done 26 miles.
