Just curious....

How many registered players are there here at RHP? And what
percentage of them are Pawn Stars? Are these numbers somewhere,
and I've just overlooked them? How long has RHP been in existence,
and who are some of the 'elder statesmen' of the site? As a recent
Pawn Star, I feel like I just became a member of some extended
family, and I'm trying to get a little sense of its history. Thanks.

under players tables there is a list of pawn stars ,,, under recent pawn
stars - I make the list 198 at the moment - should be more. Not sure
how many players there are though? And active ones at that

Based on my information, Russ opened the site on 21 Feb, 2001, and
has userid #1.

There appears to be approximately 21,600 different userid's
registered with RHP. (bear in mind that this number includes people
who have registered multiple times with different user names. Also
this includes those who no longer visit the site.)

This is mostly quesswork on my part.

I use Internet Explorer 5.xx, and when I move the mouse pointer over
the underlined usernames links that appear in tables, lists, etc., a
status bar display line at the bottom of the screen gives information
concerning the link. In this information line there is a userid number.

Hope this helps. As mentioned, this is only guesswork. Chris or Russ
might be able to furnish more accurate information to answer your
questions.

Not sure who we can clasify as "statesmen". Some of the old hats here
are:Rhymester, Bessyboo, and I'm not too far down the list as having
joined early. Bessyboo became the 1st Pawnstar, Rhymester 2nd and
I got mine 12th. Mwmiller has been here for quite awhile. To get a
fairly good idea on the "statesmen" of the site you can probably click
on "Player Tables" especially the Most Active Players and you'll get a
feel for the site. In the Highest Rated table you'll find our superstars
and our chessmasters and brain whizz. Hope this give you some
insight into the extended family you have joined. Thanks for
becoming a Pawnstar. This is a great site and I hope you'll stay with
us a long time. We have a couple of great guys who will give you
some chess lessons in games if you care to play them. KnightmareNJ
and Schliemann are just great guys.

Thanks for those kind words John...I think the list is growing of my
pupils...some hop in and out..when they take a few things I have
taught them and apply them and see that they work...I think they are
pretty happy.

I haven't been here as long as alot of people...will be celebrating my
first "RHP birthday" on the 22nd of this month...and have enjoyed
every minute of this place. Added to supporting the site..I have made
an extreme effort to make it fun and safe for all. Why I have taken
these hard trials upon myself...not real sure..I guess because when
you finally find a place on the net that you can go and not worry about
getting into bad situations it is rare. I met Beck on the Recovery Board
for Mormonism...one of the biggest sites on the net.. and when news
about us falling in love got found out we were flamed spammed and
harrased hugely. There are alot of bad people on the net and I am
sure many of you have similar stories about chat rooms and the like.

I never want to see that kind of thing here...that is why if you
notice..the bad eggs don't stay too long. Because WE don't want them.

I think I might want to become one of your "pupils," Dave (especially
if you like Metallica and Pantera-- speaking of which, I just bought the
new disc from Speeddealer (formerly REO Speeddealer, changed for
obvious legal reasons), which was produced by none other than Jason
Newsted. Anyway, I digress. I think my game is stuck. I have a fairly
high rating, but this is due largely to playing games against friends
who aren't very good. When I play against solid players, I struggle
badly, and am still prone to blunders. I do want to add that everyone
involved in the site does a great job, I'm happy to be here, and I
agree wholeheartely about some of the "garbage cans" that can be
found on the Net. Nice to find a clean house for a change. Thanks to
