wwarior has cracked the top 20 and is unbeaten or drawn....and a real
asset to the USA Team.

Way to go...I will be watching for when you hit the top ten.

Thanks Dave. I kust snuck in for a peep on a couple of games that
had been dragging on for a while. But I look forward to playing some
games with the T20 (I have only had 2 so far) though I must say
there is some talent all the way down the line here. As far as the
unbeaten record goes, well, that should not last beyond this week.
One current opponent pretty much has me on the ropes and two more
look like they do. We shall see. Cheers to all. Glad to be here.

WOW! 59 games without a loss or draw. My hat is off to you, that's
an impressive record. Perhaps after Dave is done whuppin' on me, I'll
see how many moves I can survive against you. But be warned, I am
a master of the Ligotti Variation of the Machen Defense. And don't try
finding it in MCO😉

Maggoteer told me of his gambit yesterday....which is a queen sac to
end the suffering quickly...or something to that effect.

Yours sounds like something out of a crime novel....or a
cookbook..hehehe

I like Maggoteer's idea... My opening only works OTB, actually,
because it involves slipping my opponent a hallucinogen so that,
somewhere around the middlegame, the board starts to look like a
Salvador Dali painting.... For anyone who cares, Thomas Ligotti is an
American writer of surrealist psychological horror stories, and Arhur
Machen was another horror writer who was also rumored to have
dabbled in the Black Arts.

LOL. Scarily, I've had friends who wouldn't have been phased a bit....after all, when the pieces start
talking you, suggesting moves, you've got to go along for the ride, after all they are the chess pieces,
they've got to know what they are talking about.

FYI, The official maggoteer gambit is stated this way: "a queen sacrifice for the advantage of a quick
game."

Wouldn't get too excited about how many moves to last. That tends to
be a matter of style. Let me know when you want to play I've got to
see this Defense!

My old club President used to say in a losing position...he might win
the game...but not the fight..when I catch his butt out in the parking
lot later...I am pretty sure he was just joking.

Saw a funny cartoon in Chess Life once showing two guys sitting at the
board and the one says to the other "I have just beat you nine times
in a row...what makes you think you are going to win this one?" Of
course he couldn't see the gun the other guy was holding under the
table.

and you are a good teacher as well. Julia still talks about how much
she learned during your game.

I must say I am proud on how she played though, too bad for that
big mistake near the end - she had some drawing chances didn't she?

Hi Sin
Absolutely no way I could find to force a win in Julia's game. She
played an excellant game and she had to make a mistake for me to
win. I don't think she would without a little loss of focus - think that
you were coming back into town right then 🙂. So, I guess, thanks!
FWIW, I learned as much as she did -I had to do some deep analysis
and I had wanted to explore that variation in particular.
