U.S. anti-kidnapping expert Felix Batista was abducted by gunmen in December 2008 in the northern city of Saltillo, where he had gone to advise local businessmen on how to avoid becoming victims of the country's wave of kidnappings. He has not been found.

1) That is sad for the victim and his family. Unfortunately, humans suck in a lot of ways and this is but one.

2) Gotta love an expert.

Guy didn't follow his own advice.

"After speaking on the telephone, he told his colleagues that several people in a white pickup were going to give him a message, said the statement. He got into a vehicle which did not match the description he had given his colleagues. Since then, no one has had any communication with him and no one has ever claimed responsibility for Batista's kidnapping"

I wonder if they had previously kidnapped someone else he cared about and that's why he did what they told him to i.e. his daughter in the car with an exacto knife up close to her eyeball.
