My wife and her sister are really looking forward to it but I couldn’t care less tbh. I was glued to the TV for Queen Elizabeth’s funeral as I felt the significance of her passing was of more relevance to me than Charles’ commencement. I felt a connection with Liz which I just don’t have with Charles, despite having met him briefly twice.
@divegeester saidyou gov poll 65% sampled said they would not be watching the constipation.

@earl-of-trumps saidThey don't come but once in a blue moon. The Brits sure know how to put on a pageant. All those horsemen in red coats and busbies -- what a show !

@divegeester saidYou make a very good point. The concept of Monarchy is important for what it prevents, ie a very dodgy political 'elected' head of state. But the now QEII has gone most of the rest are not very inspiring.
Just musing on the above:
I wonder if one can be a Monarchist but not a Royalist? I am a supporter of the Monarchy as a constitutional heritage thing. but I find the Royal Family themselves a big turn off. Except for QE ll who I did respect.
@kingcolemk saidwhat do u mean by most?

@divegeester saidMy clearest memory of meeting him is that he used to bogart the joint. I said to him, come on Charles, pass the dutchie on the lefthand side. Three members of Musical Youth were there. The rest is history.
