Shock news:

Frank Bruno taken from his house by men in white coats and escorted to a mental hospital!

No doubt there are tabloid headline writers sitting round tables at this very moment hoping to come up with something as 'memorable' as Freddy Star ate my Hamster!.

Anyway, I hope Frank makes a speedy recovery - in time for Panto.

the tabloid press shames itself once more. "bonkers bruno locked up" screamed the Sun newspaper. there is a lot of stigma associated with mental illness. headlines like these are offensive to anyone who has experienced mental health difficulties. anyone in the UK who agrees with this may consider taking a couple of minutes in writing a complaint to the Press Complaints Commission. www.pcc.org.uk citing section 13 of the code of practice. not sure that it will achieve anything, but doing nothing certainly won't. 🙁

It appears that "bonkers Bruno locked up" was only an early print run headline, changed to something more sympathetic later on. Too late though, damage done.

Taken from the BBC world news:

"It will affect one in three of us at some point in our lives and I think that we have to have a much more mature, sensitive and understanding approach to mental illness," Dr Fox warned.

yes it was the first edition headline... which of course was what most of the people in the north of england woke up to. the later edition headlines were apparently changed to "sad bruno in mental home" (the term "psychiatric hospital" clearly having too many syllables 😉 ) - i didn't see any of the latter on sale. sounds like a damage limitation exercise. i still remember the Sun's reporting of the hillsborough tragedy.

I disagree.A tragedy happens.Hillsborough, the guilty can duck and dive
they can not hide behind pensions.

I thought the Sun accused Liverpool supporters of being to blame then quickly backtracked when the whole of Merseyside boycotted the rag.
