Knowing the ratio between the circumference and radias of any circle isn't that geeky. You need to look in the "Posers and Puzzles" or "Science" forums. 🙂

Anyway, she got it wrong, the answer is f(x) = 6.28x. 😛

Watch "Big Idea" on TVO (Ontario, Canada). It's a lecture series that includes some lectures from the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo. Sometimes they show shots of the audience...some hotties in there boy!

Here are some podcast links.

EDIT: I found this one to be highly entertaining if you are into this sort of thing. Although, it's better if you see it on tv for the visuals.

I think this is the video...

I don't see her doing any math. I do see her posing, smiling, and moving her arms and fingers in predetermined ways.

Maybe....just maybe.....I'm jaded and being stereotypical, but it's a wild hunch on my part that maybe she's not a mathematician. Maybe she's....oh, I don't know.....a MODEL??

Pah, I know women who are both far more attractive and way more geeky about maths.

Geeky would be integrating the circumference formula from 0 to r to find the formula for area of the circle.

😛

Nordlys?

Can't easily express integrals and pi in text, but will give it my best shot.

Int 0->r 2 pi r dr = [(2/2) pi (r^2)] - (2/2) pi (0^2)] = pi r^2

If you want the volume of a sphere. Using rotation:

Int pi r^2 dr = (2/3) pi r^3

🙂

EDIT: Oops, got the last bit wrong, it is (4/3) pi r^3. 🙁

EDIT 2: Not satisfied with my dodgy calculation above for the volume of a sphere. The volume will be an integral of the surface area of a sphere from 0 to r. Surface area being 4 pi r^2:

Int 0->r 4 pi r^2 dr = [(4/3) pi (r^3)] - (4/3) pi (0^3)] = (4/3) pi r^3

The math teacher girls at my school are pretty fine. One's Vietnamese and the other Korean (or their ancestors were). Mmmmmmm....
