Hi all!
I figured I'd love to learn some more languages, and since rhp is such a multilingual place, I have this proposal:
You teach me enough of your language to get around should I ever visit that place, and in return I'll teach you enough German to get around in a german-speaking country. Or French, if you prefer that. Since you're reading this, I guess I don't need to teach you English 😀
Since I don't think anybody would be a big help with my spanish (too good to start from scratch, too bad to actually be useful), these are the languages I'd be interested in:

-Italian
-Dutch
-Norwegian/Finnish/Danish
-Afrikaans
-Russian
-Other "Exotic" languages

I obviously don't want to learn all of these. If you want to do this, it's neccessary for you to have either msn messenger, AIM or ICQ.

Obviously, other people are also welcome to use this thread... you could just write (as an example):
Looking for: Italian
Offering: German

Hope this works 😉
Angie

English obviously.

Not that crappy, good-for-nothing pigeon spelling the yanks have.

By your logic, english english should be used because England won the war.

But England could never have achieved this without the Americans and their massive war effort and terrible spelling.

Thus, using your logic, everyone should really be using american english.

Sorry Shav

That's American German. And he didn't win a war with that.

Goeie middag!
My naam is Angie. Ek hê een baie vriendelik onderwyser! Dankie! Maar hy praat Duits baie beter as ek praat Afrikaans.
Nou moet ek gaan.
Totsiens!

(obviously I have no idea how to pronounce all this... yet. And there are probably also many mistakes in it 😉 )

That's a strange combination. Pairing Norwegian and Danish makes sense, as they are extremely closely related. But Finnish is not even an Indo-European language (which makes it very interesting).

Of course I could teach you Norwegian, but I am not really interested in learning German. 😉

What does "baie" mean? I am guessing something like "very" (in "baie vriendelik" ) or "much" (in "baie beter" ).

If you use AIM (I don't know if any other of the programs you mentioned have this function), you can also talk to each other (assuming you have a microphone installed), which would be helpful for the pronunciation.
