Any one got any suggestions? Im wanting one for under $1,000 - 1,200, I use it mostly for internet and e-mail, but I do have a Flight sim that I use to practice approaches and so forth, and its a pretty big sim, with lots of graphics. I also seen a laptop that has a number pad on it, from HP, I would like that. I was thinking of a 1 gig ram. but other then that, Im pretty much lost. Any ideas or advise?

IS HP worth anything? I had to Toshibas. and wasnt impressed with them, I had problems with both of them.

Spend the money on an hp, you wont regret it. Don't go cheap, otherwise just get a pc.

Hi, long time no type! The thing I don't like about HP (and others) is they come loaded down with third party crap that takes up CPU time and sits there just saying stuff like Try AOL free or Online casino, etc.,
When you look on the HD, you find something like 2 GIGS preloaded, mostly worthless junk. I had some of that stuff with this laptop I got, a gateway, which has not so hot reviews, the company I mean, not this 'top, I like this box, it has a built in wireless card, two USB2 ports and a firewire, DVD burner and maybe half gig of ram. I am aiming for a firewire sound I/O card to use something like cakewalk in the field for reccording. It uses a Centrino CPU which is supposed to give you 30 % more battery life, running about 1.8 Ghz or so. Wide screed LCD looks nice, Got it at Best Buy. One thing I like about best buy, the have a new insurance policy that for about 300 bucks, you are protected even if the 'top is run over by a truck, and three times like that. That was one of my fears, having two 16 year old boys in the house who fight all the time, wrestling around and such, breaking things ALL the time and I was worried about the thing getting destroyed by someone sitting on it or something so that relieved a lot of worry there. Laptops are unbelieveably delicate, they break easy.
I had a PDA and dropped it on a floor and the screen cracked and goodby PDA, the only thing that saves you is the insureance. It was around 1300 with the insurance policy. Thats a three year policy BTW.
I don't like the stupid mouse pad so we got a wireless mouse, the dongle plugs into the USB port and is a bluetooth tranciever connected to a like unit in the mouse, an optical which has very good resolution and you can use it on the arm of a chair or your leg, works a lot better than the old mouse ball ones. So thats it. One more thing, check out Dell, they have some kind of laptop deal for less than 800 bucks, I have a couple three dells, PC's and they send out deals which change from week to week, you might want to give them a look. Don.

Yea, It has been a while, been really busy, and doing tours here and there.

ok, I went to Best Buy, and the one I like the best was an HP, (mostly because of the number pad), is there a way I could delete all that trash that comes with HP? I got an HP desktop, and yes, it came loaded with tons of stuff I dont ever use. all I want on the computer is: XP, and Office.

Also, Whats better, AMD or Pentium?

Thanks Ben

It used to be that the AMD processor was the fastest of the processors. And Pentium was the most highly Advertised. I am not sure now. I would imagine that it would be a matter of which model of the processor you choose. Either brand is very good. They usually run neck and neck. You might want to do a side by side comparison of the models available for you to choose from and then search the reviews on Google. Maybe look at a consumer guide. And see what they say about your choices.

I had a crap HP. I have a great Toshiba but not good for high graphic games like CivIV. I would go for a high end Game oriented NOTebook with the option to upgrade the video graphics card. Sorry I never Buy HP. Cost me heaps of time and worry..>DEll as well

have you tried http://openoffice.org
free software that opens/edits Office documents and also has its own document format.
just can't see why it is necessary to pad big Bill's bank account any further when this free software is there and highly usable.

Download File sizes (est.): Windows: 91.2 MB | WindowsJRE: 139.92 MB | Linux: 119.62 MB | Solaris (S): 121 MB | Solaris (X86): 112 MB | Mac: 135.6 MB

I use it, and now know how women feel when they are liberated from their bras.

You make pedantry sound like a sort of foamy rubber lace.

Have you figured out how to work your Ignore function yet? For screening off PM pests.

You can buy a USB number pad to use with any laptop if it's really such a big deal.

HP is good quality, but you pay lots for the name.
I would recommend Dell, but check out LG. I have one - cheap, reliable and I'm very happy with it.
