Any one ever hear of Letter Boxing? It is a pretty neat concept. Hidden all over the world are plastic water-tight boxes with a notepad inside. The box also contains a rubber ink stamp. You have a note pad of your own, and a rubber stamp of your own also. There are clues online to find the location of these boxes... as well as other sources I am sure.
Once you find a box you stamp it with your stamp, and use the enclosed stamp to stamp your note pad.
Anyone here ever hear about this, or involved in it? It sounds kinda neat to me.
Originally posted by Phlabibiti have never heard of it. Though i am curious enough to find out more.

I can add a little. You also need a hand held gps to mark your find. it is customary to leave a "doodle" prize in the box for the next player to find, and you take the "doodle" that you find as a momento to put in your collection. there are then conventions where prizes are awarded, doodles are compared and remembered by givers and finders. New boxes are launched on assignment by selected members, i think... or maybe you just start one on your own. Can't remember. This is all from a tv human interest piece i saw about 5 years ago. I don't know anybody or group to refer you to. The couple in the piece were out in the woods with their dogs and having a glorious time of it. Looked fun.
Not sure if you need gps, as most clues I saw were given in the following fashion. (But there are so many clubs doing this perhaps there is a club who uses gps.)
Start at the Train station an follow the bike path for about a mile. On your right you will see a small path that leads to a field. turn 270 degrees at the entrance to the field and follow the stone wall about 50 yards. You will see a large oak tree.... etc.
I was surprised to find there were about 7 boxes alone I should have no trouble finding... my SO (or should I say BH- better half) is very interested... so if I don't go out there with her she is gonna find them with another friend of ours.
Really sounds fun to me.
I also saw where you can make your own box and clues etc... but I am sure some clubs run it different.
I think the whole thing started in England. I found a page that seems to be more stuff all over the world, but can't find it with a search. When I find it I will post it in this thread.
