I just ordered a broadband package with 30gb download allowance per month.
Is there any techno boffins out there who could explain that for me?
I like gaming, and am worried i'm going to exceed my limit very quickly ( my e-mail linking me to this site is 2kb).
on a similar note: a friend of mine is supposed to be on "unlimited" but his ISP was giving him crap about the amount of stuff he downloaded and stopped him from downloading excessive amounts between 6pm & 11pm - so much for "unlimited" huh

30Gb a month is (approx) 1Gb per day - unless you are downloading movies (or stacks of music) you are gonna struggle to reach 1Gb every day.

Come to South Africa and you'll be limited to 3Gb a month unless you're prepared to pay an extra $10 per Gb.
But there are many hardcore gamers in SA who make do with the limited bandwidth. Just playing online games I don't think you'll use even 10% of your limit.

ISP's can't actually limit your monthly downloads; they just monitor it. Then if you continously go over the limit they set per month, they'll contact you and threaten to cut off your access if you don't stop.
Originally posted by Daemon SinSome can and do "manage" your download speeds which includes slowing it right down though. They often do so if filesharing programs are being overused. Particular ISPs are notorious for doing this.

Most these days charge you so much per GB that you go over your limit....added to your monthly charge, normally [as stated previously] they warn you first.
Originally posted by huckleberryhoundIf you just play games you will be fine 30gb is loads the only way you would break that is if you start downloading a few films and games a week and even then you should be ok if its not to much.
