Hm. You're going to have your work cut out.

Well, I don't want to rush into it all at once!

Ok. Posting from within the linspire live CD now. I have to admit, it's pretty neat. Spell checking occurring as I type. The drawback is that my external keyboard is extremely slow in the response. But if I use the keyboard on the laptop itself it works nicely.

The fonts are a bit of a disappointment too. Other than that, I can recommend anyone who's interested to download and burn linspire live-CD. It's great fun. Much more fun than actually programming what I'm supposed to be doing. 😀

Speaking of which...

Edit: The problem with the fonts can be solved by setting the zoom in the browser (firefox of course) to 120%. 🙂

Spell checking as you type has been in Konqueror for ages so I take it that Linspire is a KDE based desktop?

It is. I've been a gnomer for as long as I can remember so I didn't realise that. Of course, everything in linspire is available for free since it's based on linux. It's just very simple for beginners to get started with.

But this browser is firefox. Of that I'm sure. Konqueror is another browser entirely if I'm not mistaken? Or is the actual checker part of KDE itself and available in all programs? Hmmm. Wait a just a second...

Edit: No it isn't. Seems it's only part of the Internet Suite.

I believe there is a firefox plugin that does spell checking. In KDE I've only noticed it in Konqueror (which I use all the time as my file manager and browser. It's amazing what Konqueror can do but all it's funky features are not really advertised anywhere so they are difficult to find. Just have a look at the supported protocols in configure Konqueror. There is some impressive stuff that you use just like a URL. Also, try #find in the URL bar) and kmail.

With foxlingo I can also translate entire pages from a lot of different languages to swedish. Admittedly the translations aren't great as it chooses the wrong words quite often. For instance the english word play can be either leka or spela in swedish. Leka schack is not the correct one, yet that's the word it chooses when I translate the home page of RHP.

Other than little things like that I can actually comprehend french, spanish and german websites now. How's that for cheating? 😛

As long as you don't use it for posts in progress, it should be okay.

Wenn ich jetzt deutsch schreibe, liest du es also als schwedisches Kauderwelsch?

"I write now German, read does you it thus as Swedish Kauderwelsch?"

That's what my web browser told me at least.

Aaaargh!!! 😠

Foxlingo will jump to the first page of every thread and translate that!!! 😠 How frustrating!!! And then I created a dummy thread in the private clan (sorry guys) and you know what happened? It can't connect because you must login to gain access!!!

AAAAARRGH!!! 😠

I don't like foxlingo anymore. 😞
