looking for a song

I have this song in my head, and it's really bothering me that I don't know who sings it or what it's called... and I don't know enough lyrics from it to do a google search successfully. So maybe one of you knows the song I'm talking about (I'd hum the melody... but oh well, I don't have a micro attached to my computer):
-it's an older song, from the 80s or 90s
-it's a woman with a rather high voice singing
-I'd classify it as pop music
-the chorus is something like (not sure of the exact text): "Did not did not did not did not see me" or something like that. The notes get higher with each "did" ("did" and and "not" are the same note if I remember correctly).

I know this is probably one of the worst song descriptions you've ever read, but maybe someone knows what I mean?
