We used Ivory when I was a kid. But for mouth washing my granny kept a bar of Cashmere Bouquet handy.

She washed mine out with Black Lava Industrial Strength Hand Soap more than once... ugh!

There is nothing better than the extra strength industrial pumas for removing the enamel and blasphemy out of a child's mouth. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ

But when I told a lie ... out came the home made lye soap. It sizzled.

" home made lye soap" was our maternal grandmother's specialty;
the mere mention of it was enough for four boys to behave.
