Who here thinks the battle is following a script?
On ICC I saw some prominent GM's claim it's just a big promo campaign. But some others said it was for real.Of course,I don't know what the real deal is,but I tend to believe it's very possible that it's just a promo scheme.Though I hope it isn't.
Thoughts anyone?

It's for real ánd it is a big promo campaign ! Kaspy still likes to win and he also likes to make a lot of money. So, why not try to combine the two .......

But logically I'd say that if I were organising an event, it would have to be rigged to be a draw, or if not a very close win (0.5 point difference). Why? Kaspy isn't going to enter into something where he's going to be humiliated - it'd end his career. The programers aren't going to put so much effort into promoting this great new software, only to see it wiped out - they'd never sell any after that. The solution (in my jaded little mind) is to rig it.
Everyone will be rooting for the human, as it's human nature to root for the side most similar to ourselves, that we can relate to most, so to build tension let Kaspy draw his first game as white, then lose the 2nd (with a blunder that I saw as soon as he played it, so it must have been a bad one), then make his comeback in the last 3 matches.
Like I said, all fantasy, but if I were to script it, this is how it'd go.

I would sooner believe no man has ever walked on the moon than think a game of Chess with the Worlds best rated player vs. best rated machine is staged.
Too big a risk to fake for Chess... Plus the computer gaming companies would never stand for such a thing.... they have a job to do!
The better they do, the better they get paid for their products.
You will need to show some proof, please!

Originally posted by PhlabibitI told you it was all fantasy, made up in my own little conspiracy theory brain. I don't believe it myself, but that's not to say it's not possibly true. All I have done is state potential motive - the computer people don't want to wipe the floor with humans, as the 'who is better, man or machine?' question is one of the crowd attracting lines they've been using ever since Deep Blue. Once the machine has won no one will care any more. The computer people don't want to get beaten either, because if they do then it doesn't make their product look good. Perfect solution is to draw as it lets both sides keep face and leaves the door open for a sequal.

And who says man has walked on the moon? The shadows are all wrong man, as are the reflections! The Us just wanted to look better than the USSR so they went into the desert...😉
