tis more than a whim-i'm thinking of becoming a mtahs tutor. i'm good at explaining stuff to people etc, and i got the highest possible grade for my maths exam last year.

so, does anyone know the going rate for an hour with a mths tutor? £11 is what i've found so far, but she's a cambridge graduate etc... and has anyone heard of a senior pupil tutoring younger ones?

Yes, i have done that myself. However the going rate i was charging, both at the end of high school and as an undergrad at uni, was in aussie dollars so i really can not help you with the money side.

I charge 15 dollars per hour as a logic tutor, but I know there are math grad students at the university of washington that charge upwards of 20. That is for high end stuff like diffy-q and lin. algebra.

My sister in law used to work for http://www.toptutors.co.uk. She thinks you would have to undercut their prices quite a bit as a) They are london prices, b) The tutors are graduates. Of course the parents end up paying for this sort of thing and it depends on what parents at your school might see as fair.

I used to have a math tutor she charged 15 usd for an hour, that was 15 years ago. I never did pass the algebra class; However, It must have done some good though I estimate jobs in the millions.
