Trolling: I wonder how many of us users fit this discription? It is said I do. IF this IS the case, I do indeed know I am not alone!

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.

How silly of me not to think, that you wouldn't know better! 🙂 Perhaps one day..... "Sighs"

You are off the thread topic if you are not aware of it. I just thought I might point that small matter out to you. I am not one to alert the Mods every 5 seconds. 🙂

On the serious note, I never understood internet trolling. All that real internet trolls usually do is to provoke, attack, insult without any reason, usually with very bad arguments and bad talk showing to all the rest of us how miserable are they (probably) in their real life.

So, here is message to all internet trollz/real life mental dwarfs (Very Rusty, I saw some of your posts, you do not look as a troll I think 🙂); If you think you are fat and unnatractive, if your girlfriend just dumped you, if you are unsuccesful in any field of your life, if you were never being sought in seeking game as a child, if your mum didn't breastfeed you enough long, if someone pissed in your cornflakes, if you failed again in your try to get a driving licence, if you failed to go to the college because they told ya that you are not enough smart, if you have fungus on your left foot, that is not the fault of unknown internet strangers you've never seen or talked to before. They are not on forums so they can act as your personal therapeut.

So dear trolls, deal with your lives, take a medicine, go to yoga, save yourself with the help of God or philosophy or whatever you want. Do not show to the whole world how miserable and frustrated you are.

Ah... Feeling better now 😛

Trolling: A few more examples for the uninformed. It may help you use the word in the correct context.

Trolling is deliberate violation of the implicit rules of Internet social spaces. It necessarily involves a value judgment made by one user about the value of another's contribution. (Because of this it is considered not to be any more useful than the judgment 'I don't agree with you' by many users, who prefer to focus on behaviors instead of on presumed intent.)

Trolling is not necessarily the same as vandalism (although vandalism may be used to troll). A vandal may just enjoy defacing a webpage, insulting random users, or spreading some personal views in an inappropriate way. A troll deliberately exploits tendencies of human nature or of an online community to upset people.

There are many types of disruptive users that are not trolls. Reversion warriors, POV warriors, cranks, impolite users, and vocal critics of Wikipedia structures and processes are not necessarily trolls.

The basic mindset of a troll is that they are far more interested in how others react to their edits than in the usual concerns of Wikipedians: accuracy, veracity, comprehensiveness, and overall quality. If a troll gets no response to their spurious edits, then they can hardly be considered a troll at all.

I found this to be quite amusing! V.R.
