Every day should be Thanksgiving. That way I don't have to bathe in commercialism, materialism and religious BS every waking hour of my life.

Thanksgiving isn't also all that?

You can not have a "Special Day", every day of the year.

It no longer would be special. Sorry, you didn't catch the food example. 😉
Wrong, Rusty. Dead wrong. By definition each waking day vertical on the face of the earth is damn special, as is God's Gift of provision for reconciliation. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Patriotic Holidays, Mother's Day, etc, are special for me all 365 days because of my abiding appreciation of their importance/value. A diet of bread and water in a cardboard box beneath a bridge wouldn't change a thing. How pitiful to major on minor things or to assuage guilt of neglect by giving your Mom flowers once a year.

Not at all. Thanksgiving is just a big ol' feast with family and friends. No presents, no religious overtones, no nothing. Just binging on food and good times with those close to you!

The Special days you mentioned are all special in their own way, and no one said that every day on this earth wasn't special.

You had asked what if Christmas were every day?

The simple answer is it would just not be special anymore, same as if you made any of the other holidays an 'every day event', they would just become another day. What makes them special is they only come along once a year, like your birthday.

If you could eliminate just one of your bad habits, just one.. that would be it.

Learn to disagree without being disagreeable.

Once again, the annual versus daily focus issue concerns attitude and perspective. You construct terrible furniture

out of my lumber if you reduce the significance of celebrating appreciations and values to literal food and flowers.

Yes, sound principle in a general sense. In context, why would anybody ever accept

your suggested imperative that friends in lively conversation walk on egg shells?

"What if we regarded every day as Christmas?" simply suggests the benefit of an attitude and behavioral frame

of reference in which relaxed posters exhibited thoughtfulness during the other eleven months on the calendar.

BINGO: I just knew you would get around to saying that, and I completely agree with you, when it is phrased that way! 😉

Unfortunately as much as it would be nice to see and have, I think we are a long way from that not only on the Interwebz, but also in the real world.

Bingo Two: Now your beginning to sense the whimsical grace note of forlorn hope

in the face of unforgiving reality in "What if we regarded every day as Christmas?"
