I do think though it is a very different thing to reference another poster's wife, not that I think you did so with any knowledge of her personal situation. - But then that's the point, we don't know a person situation in relation to their family. Referencing a wife in that way is akin to somebody walking into your lounge uninvited and sitting on your sofa. It is an invasion of privacy.
