@divegeester saidSee how many times you can say "Northcentral-part East" before you get tired of saying that.
Why is the US Midwest called by this name when it’s actually positioned Northcentral-part East?
It was known as the Midwest back when it actually was the Midwest and it kept the name for simplicity.
You gonna whine again how I "didn't get the joke"?
@suzianne saidIt wasn’t a joke.

Tell you what I’ll do for you, I’ll suffix my posts with “that was a joke Suzianne” so you can reflect before posting some scorn.
@divegeester saidThe early settlements were along the east coast. So eventually people started settling west. So the Midwest had some population. West of that was unsettled. Then came pioneers, trappers, buffalo hunters, farmer, ranchers who wanted land. The government would let people settle on primative land, improve it and claim it under certain conditions. That along with the gold rush, demand for beaver pelts for hats etc people started moving out west. So there is the west, Midwest and the east coast.
