AL West: Oakland
AL WC: Yankees

Of course the playoff short series is difficult to forsee so I will not even try except to say that either Boston or the Yankees will be in the World Series......again!!

I really don't see the fascination with Atlanta this year. I really haven't gotten a decent explanation from anyone either. I would be extremely surprised if Mike Hampton makes 17 starts this year, and Mark Teixera will probably not be nearly as electric with the bat as he was the latter part of last year. I'm just going to chalk the excitement up to their history. Hard to keep a major franchise out of the spotlight.
Originally posted by Fat mans revengeAlso looks like the Rays are going to be so good that they will advance to the ALCS even after being knocked out by the Angels in the ALDS...
NLDS: Rockies over Brewers, Phillies over Diamondbacks
ALCS: Tigers over Red Sox, Angels over Rays
NLCS: Rockies over Phillies
ALCS: Angels over Rays
World Series: Rockies over Angels
That's supposed to say Angels over Tigers.
Originally posted by whodeyI think Oakland will have a tough time just making second place in the AL West. If the Angels don't get thier pitching healthy in time the Mariners will win the division. However, if the Angels do manage to get their pitchers healthy early in the season it is their division to lose.

Any predictions for AL MVP? I'm going with Manny.
I like Fat mans revenge's bracket, but switch Rays and Sox and have Rays go to the top. They put on a great show in spring training and on opening night, beating the Orioles 6-2. They've never been near the top because they're young and they have Boston and New York to compete with in their division, but I can feel that this is their year.
P.S. What's with tham changing from the Devil Rays to just the Rays? Their new uniforms are terrible too.

Originally posted by Fat mans revengeI have to disagree with Teixeira - he has the capability to put this team over the Mets and the Phillies. Besides being one of the top defensive first basemen in the league, he is a terror at the plate. He is also coming into his prime and batting behind (Man Crush Alert) future hall of famer Chipper Jones who is always finding a way to get on base and keep innings alive. I think 30HRs, 120-130 RBIs and a Gold Glove this year for Teixeira is a reasonable prediction. Let's not forget the other young talent they have - Francoeur, McCann, Escobar. As far as pitching goes, I think they have probably the best top 3 starters in the NL East as well with Smoltz, Hudson and Glavine.

As for AL MVP, I have'nt a clue. Manny sounds a good enough guess as any.
