Guys, you've all been a great help, thank you all!! This is not for me!! I've never owned a credit card and i have never taken out a loan (outside student loans, thank you Tony B!!!)
Now all i have to do is somehow get this guy motivated to sort this mess out, organisation isn't his strong point. The current plan seems to be something along the lines of leaving the country, which obviously AIN'T gonna work!! 😞
encourage your friend to get organised.
suggest: imagine your friend had a hypothetical $100. how should that be used?
1/ pay the debt down by $100
2/ go to the pub
3/ pay himself $10 per hour to spend ten useful hours doing things to make things better (a low ammount, but tax free and self supporting) ... the first $5 can be spent reading cadwah's posts here. the next $30 can be spent following cadwah's advice ... that is a lot of phone calls - 3 hours, recalling over and over if necessary. that still leaves 6.5 hours to contact friends relatives etc or follow any other leads ... find a lower interest rate ..... and all for what? - just $100!
if the answer is 1 then there is hope.
