My sister, an Oxford graduate with highly commended research experience has taken ten years to learn it.

I, with half her intelligence learned French in two weeks and Italian in six.

Depends on what you are aiming as a level of knowledge of a language - French is on top of my list. Nothing is logic in there, was lucky enough to start young.
