me and my brothers would always shoot each other with a BB gun pistol, its only what 50FPM? a paintball hurts twice as bad.

You and your brothers were equals, and I'm guessing a lot of siblings have done that. For a parent to shoot a child is a much more serious offense. Parents have a fiduciary responsibility to care for and protect their children, not hurt them. I think most brothers feel obligated in quite the opposite direction!
