I was wondering if Russ has a machine that keeps track of the total amount of moves made on this site. I would be curious to know where RHP stands as far as total moves.
I did a little calculation and the top 10 players on this site as of 22:07 eastern standard time have a total of 995,692 moves between them. The number 11 player puts us over the million mark I know Russ never dreamed of this I am just curious if there is a way to quickly find out how many total moves RHP has made subscription or otherwise. I am willing to bet it is over 25 million??? But unless I add them all up which I may do there is no way of telling
Originally posted by D43M0NThere is no way it can be 500 million do you realize how much 500 million is. 500 players making 1 million moves??? 5000 players making 100,000 moves. 50000 players making 10,000 moves I just dont think this number is remotely feasable. I think even my estimate is high
It would be interesting...I would say well over the 500 million mark has been played.

Other than that it would be nice if there were an easy way to find this number.

I have made a lot. 🙂 The number above was reached by taking my number of moves and adding the lowest number of moves (1), dividing by two for an average and then multiplying that number by the person's MAP ranking on the page where it goes from two moves to one move. It may be a bit skewed but that's a rough total of moves for the whole site. 🙂

Here it is:
Say you want to add the numbers from 1 to 10, you could go 1+2+3+4...+10=55 or you could do 1 + 10 is 11 divided by 2 is 5.5 times 10 is 55. This is supposed to make it faster and the idea is good if you want a rough number.
What I did this time (and it should be a little closer) is:
124,040 (my move count)
+ 40 (the average number of moves in a game or so)
-------------
124,080
Divide this by two to get your average:
124,080/2 = 62040
Now we want to multiply 62040 by the number of items in the list. The first person with 40 moves on the MAP list is yourteacher; this person's Rank on this list is 10879 so I round it up to 10880 to make it easier to do in my head and what we get is:
62,040 (the average number of moves)
x 10,880 (the number of people in our list)
-----------
674,995,200 (the average number of moves completed on this site)
This number is a bit lower but that is because I used the first person that had made only one move as the other end of my equation last time.
BTW that person is 00602221 and their ranking on the list MAP list is 17380. That means that there are about 7000 people not included in our new figure ranging from 2 moves to 39 moves.
Is there something wrong with my math?

I broke down the numbers I am not sure how accurate this will be.
19109 total movers evaluated and counted. Non movers in the past 100 days are not counted so this number will have to be adjusted. even though it is not the case I will assume each player has the maximum amount of moves allowed to be in respected category
0-2,000 moves = 17,030players equaling 34,060,000
2,001-10,000 moves = 1,607players equaling 16,070,000
10,001-25,000 moves = 351 players equaling 8,775,000
25,001-50,000 moves = 92 players equaling 4,600,000
50,001-100,000 moves = 25 players equaling 2,500,000
100001+ moves = 4 players equaling 463,464 actual
This not counting non movers in the past 100 days and estimating at the high end of things.
Giving us a high end total of 66,468,464 just for kicks round it up and say 66,500,000
66,500,000 not counting non movers in past 100 days and over estimating using each amount of players in each category and giving them the maximun number of moves allowed to be in that category.
No where close to one billion

Originally posted by deathbypawnWell, here's an even lower number and how I got it. Take the highest game number you can find and multiply it by the average number of moves in a game (I am going to use 40 as this number).
the only reason I discluded them is because it doesnt list them on the most active player list so it is impossible for me to know. but you are right they have to be counted
The highest game number I could find is:
738150
That time 40 is:
29,526,000
So, after adding all three of my answers together and averaging you get:
594,027,983
That's the best I can do. 🙂

P.S. As if being #1 MAP didn't state it loud enough; this proves that I have way too much time on my hands. 🙂
