When you're bored play your guitar. But remember, perfect practice makes perfect. Practice doesn't make perfect, if you are practicing in the wrong way. 😉

There's always room for improvement. 😀

You are so right; I've been struggling with learning guitar for years. When I pick it up, I just play the same old stuff, most of it made up, with no defined goal.

Download some free classical pieces for guitar, assuming you know EGBDF on lines.

Try a few of the finger positions. Not all. Choose at random, maybe bar 4, bar 12, bar 8 etc. Just a few new finger positions, and even not necessarily chords.

You will hear some you like, some that you think abhorrent.

Choose them at will, as you like. Mix them with what you already know - AND - soon you will be creating new pieces of your own, unlike the ones you have been doing. Give it a go. 😉

Thanks GB, if anyone knows spam it's you. This is like Dr. J telling me "Nice Shot" if I were playing basketball and swished a sky hook from the top of the key.
