I was watching the news the other night (UTV live) waiting for the, normally dull, 'and finally' bit when lo and behold my Granda appeared on TV.
Quite a shock!!
Apparently, my family had been trying to contact me but I had left my phone off. My Granda wanted to visit my uncle in Spain, who does a little bit of singing there in the summer, but has never previously travelled abroad and has subsequently never previously required a passport.
He made his application in the usual way but was rather perturbed to discover that his passport application had been turned on the grounds that he did not exist! It's thought that the reason for there being a lack of information about my Grandad is that he was born in a remote mountain village, Cranagh, in the pre-partition days. So his birth was never registered though he has since then acquired a Driver's licence and a birth certificate (though we are not sure how accurate his date of birth is, even the year.)
This presents me with a problem: if he doesn't exist then do I?
