I've decided i want to run 10 miles. I've never done it before, so i will work up to it over the year.

That was supposed to be my resolution, then a funny thing happened...I checked the web page for the run i was planning on doing...http://dublinmarathon.ie/race_series.php...and i went and registered for the whole series.

So, i'm registered for the 5 mile, the 10 mile, the half marathon....and the Full Marathon.

Not sure if i'm able for all of this, but it is my resolution to complete the 10 miles anyway...if i can do the half marathon aswell i might just go in for the big one.

Wish me luck.

*I actually have a few resolutiond. I made a youtube vid for all youtube related stuff, and that can be seen on my web page.*

I think it was Suzianne who started this thread a year or 2 back. As I told her, I made a new years resolution some decade or 2 back resolving to no longer make new years resolutions. I'm doing a great job.

Don't do it! Now there's a great tip :o)

I remember last year I thought I'd do a bit for charity, so I registered for the Manchester 100 bike ride (100 Km or 100 miles). I took the easy option. My friend gave me a lift down to the starting point in his car. As he dropped me off and helped me with my bike out of his boot, he said to me 'You d*** head', laughed and then drove off. I didn't disagree with him. 🙂

I want to do this for myself...it will be a good way to get rid of my fat belly.

I've just seen the training regime for a marathon...it's quite scary. I only planned on doing the 10 miles, but if i decide to go the whole hog i need to decide by May i think.

nothing like eddie izzard's marathon man documentary to encourage you. if a tubby middle-aged comedian with absolutely no running experience can pull off 43 marathons in 50 days, so can you. download it and watch. here's a clip from the beginning:

(I've taken the 'phlabs vow' in the 90s as well.)

You should get a physical from your doctor first, especially if you're carrying extra pounds.

I don't want to hear about you dropping dead from exercise.

Found this site....it is so freaking helpful.

You plot the run, and it tells you the distance....for free.

Just finished my second 4k jog (first two days ago) in 27 minutes, the first of the new year. My legs are in pain from trying too hard on the first run...Eddie, how did you manage it?
