I had the unusual experience this past weekend of having several RHPners from England come to visit. It was GREAT! I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it was to meet people face to face that you have talked to for several years. I was very touched that they went so far out of their way to visit. We took them horseback riding and whitewater rafting. I hope that when they return they might add their perspective of this encounter.

Anyway, I know that part of this site's purpose was to help build a worldwide chess community. I highly encourage others to seek out vacation exchanges with people on the site.

Padfoot and his dad Phoneytician. I was able to get a pic of 5 RHPner is one photo and hope to get it on RHP faces soon. They both speak German and English very well. Very proper English accents. Since I live in an area where no one can conjugate a verb, I enjoyed teaching them how to say things like "shit fire", "hot damn" and the like.

My wife and I went out to visit cathyt and her husband marwitkes who live in New Mexico last year. Its a bit strange when you have only met someone over a virtual chess board and all sorts of doubts form in your mind, but we had a fantastic time. They were so accomodating and we got on like a house on fire. They couldnt do enough for us even to the point of lending us their condo up in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado for a few days.
Now we are firm friends and we hope that one day they will come to England so that we can return the favour.
