Today I went to the 'art of chess' exhibition in London - a collection of some of the world's more eccentric chess sets, themed around an apparently iconic game of Napolean's against a fellow general. Having followed Napolean's increasingly erratic moves, I can't help conclude that genius warmonger he may have been, but he was absolutely rubbish at chess. I reckon even I could have taken him.
Made me think, if all the world's past conflicts had been decided at the board, rather than the battlefield, how different human history would have been...
