Why should an athlete be obligated to act as you wish?
because they are representing us as a nation, and this is a privilege for them. because the game is meaningless without spectators.

As a child in America playing lots of sports, I was taught to show respect for the national anthem; one hand behind the back, the other over my heart. Nothing about singing the anthem. I'm guessing a lot of these players were taught the same way.

I reckon the ones that are not singing are the ones who can't remember [or just don't know] the words.
You would think that they would make an effort to learn the words beforehand....well I would expect them to.

We here in Germany not in sports but in gerneral are in a very difficult situation.

Nobody dares to say: I am proud to be a German cause it has this brown tune and everybody watches out for your mustache growing.

I think national proud is good. In sports because they are playing to entertain our people.

Our whole team was changed from daddy playas to youngsters and the one (SCHWEINI !) told the press that he is honored to wear the Bundesadler (the Eagle representing our country). That was a nice comment.

I will use the example of the U.S. Italy soccer match. When the Italian anthem was played the players and coaches were all singing. But when the U.S. anthen was played the players looked bored, and disintersted. I feel that their actions on the field reflect directly on how a nation is viewed by other countries.
They had to sing it every single day from school on. Ofcourse they get bored with it.
Bush and his gang should do something about it. Every athlete who doesn't sing, could be a terrorist🙄

That is the worst case of Bush bashing I have seen. It does not make logical sence. They dont sing the anthem from school on. I thing you are refering to the pledge of aligence.

I doubt they play to entertain people. Bundesadler is a funny way to spell eagle.

I noticed in the U.S. that the majority of people don't even know the words to our national anthem, but we do show respect to it.
