Hi.

So, I just signed up (thanks to the prompting of a friend), and I decided to create a few open invite games as a way of getting started. I made a point of naming them so people would know I was brand new and there were no guarantees as to my playing level.

2 of my 3 open invites were promptly deleted by the person that accepted them, before I had made a single move.

Am I missing something here? Is deletion of games THAT frequent? Are people not bothering to look at my rating (which I notice has a p for provisional)? Do you all have something against Australians?

Answers both honest and witty much appreciated.

Yes! We didn't send you over there to sit and enjoy yourself in the sun, invent barbecues and learn how to surf 😠

Seriously, some people are rude when accepting invites. Many people don't like playing new members for various reasons: they may be really good players, but with only a 1200 rating who can tell?, they may be just trying the site and disappear halfway through the game, etc...
But, they should be able to see that before accepting the game.
Just try again, it sounds like you've been unlucky.

Ironically enough, I suddenly have 3 active games (plus the one that I started for the friend who dragged me here in the first place, HE BETTER TURN UP 😉). So I have more than enough to be going on with for starters!

Thanks for the response, Varg, and other comments are still welcome.

maybe the accepter of an open invite should not be able to delete that game ?!

what are the pros and cons of this?

Ah, these things happen... people dont pay attention... they accept games... they delete games... they start to resent a country where Oliva Newton-John was born.... Anyways.... I'm always up for a game, so feel free to challenge me anytime. I'm pretty stinky, but I dont delete invites.

Welcome to the site!

First off, welcome orfeo! I think you'll have 6 good games going soon... if you want that many!

Flex... yes! That makes sense, why take a game if you can delete it???

Great idea.

Well, with regards to accepting and then deleting.... I'm in a circumstance now that I accepted an invite, and then the person disappeared before making a move. So I'll give them a week or so, and then delete it from my games.... I hope that this option wouldn't go away, for this very reason.

Regards,
turtlex

turtle... I say the clock should start ticking right away when a game is made? That way it will just time out???

I think people should really check all game info, cuz no one would want to wait 27 days for each move!

You still had a good idea.

I recommend that everyone ALWAYS check the game details and conditions first. Then ALWAYS check the profile of your prospective opponent. Fewer surprises that way.....
