Just got this phone, LG company, model LGT300, T mobile carrier, has sim card. Just found out it is not meant for the US, but unlocked to work here. Can't find a manual more extensive than the useless paper that came with it. Any help? I tried googling it and also called 611 and talked to a support rep and he couldn't find one either.
He found some similar ones like KG500 that looks close but was it.
Update: Found LG support phone #, they may help, so far am on hold🙂
Originally posted by greenpawn34hehe, good one. LG people never got back to me, gave them the model # and such. They were supposed to Email the manual but no joy yet, two hours later.
Somebody broke into my car and stole my LGT300
all I have left is the manuel.
They also said they were going to call me back but no joy there yet either.
The problem is the thing doesn't fully connect to T mobile. The clock does not update, freewheeling, was 2 minutes off in less than an hour left to itself. I found out the phone I got had originally been made for Canada. Different software for clocks and software updates and such. It only partially connects with T mobile, enough for a clerk in a shop to show it accepts and makes calls but then I learned about the out of US thing and what that means.

Originally posted by GixxerThanks, that's the one. The problem is the location. It is meant for the UK not the US, so running it here means it is crippled to even basic operation like using the alarm clock. I have no doubt the alarm clock works, the problem is I set the time and date but within an hour it was 2 minutes off because it is not fully connected to T mobile america. It also means no phone firmware updates. I intend to take it back to the shop that scammed us. I may have to sue since they said no refunds on phones but that is another story.

Funny thing is, I found the american version of the same phone, the GS505 and it is under a hundred bucks, we paid 140 for this one.
Oh and one more thing: the wall charger, it is a 220 volt job with European 2 prong wide connector, pins something like 4 cm apart, you probably know what I am talking about. I lived in Israel for 4 years and they have the same kind of plug. I was surprised when I first saw that kind of plug because it means there is no independent ground wire, the US employs 3 prong plugs with independent ground connection.

Two mins/hr is a ridiculous drift even for a free-running clock. When you say it is 'off', what are you comparing it to? Sounds to me like NITZ is working, it just has a 2 min difference from your reference. Or are you saying it's 48 mins adrift after 24 hours?
Most chargers are double-insulated now so have no need for a ground pin. They only have one in order to fit the socket properly. In the UK the earth pin is slightly longer than the others so that as it enters the socket it opens the shutters to receive the other two prongs - a neat safety feature that prevents small fingers putting things into the live ports. So the earth prong has to be there although these days it's usually made of plastic.

Originally posted by CrowleyWell, we came out smelling like a rose actually. We paid the dude 150 bucks for the phone, then found out how not supported it was by T mobile and went back the next day, with my wife alternating between rage and crying.
Man, you sure have the strangest things happen to you...
And the fact that a T mobile product support guy happened into the store and we were all talking, the store owner did what he said he would never do, give us our money back! So the T mobile guy gave us the name of the best brand as they dealt with them, the most reliable and such, UTC Devices, I think is the name, and he said there were some freebie deals but you had to speak to the online guys, not in the store, a little inside info.
So we called product support who sent us to sales, and found a super deal, we had been paying 200 bucks a month for 3 phones, and our phones basically sucked. So he told me about a deal, free phones that was like blackberry but higher tech, if you made a contract.
We had a no contract plan, turns out to be way expensive for that. So we made a regular 2 year contract and got 2 phones for absolute free (the phones would cost 500 bucks each without a contract) and the total bill cut in half from 2 bills to 1! Can't beat that with a stick. We will do the activation thing, they are sending the phones by UPS, transfer the lines and such. Built in 16 gig memory, all the bells and whistles, wifi, regular internet, apps, touch screen, etc. Not bad for having just made the crap deal of the month and getting out of it the next day!
Jimslyp: I think we maybe could have done that but T mobile does not have that phone in the system, I found that out when I called 611, they never heard of it. So they would have no support for that phone no matter what, in fact LG america also did not have a record of that phone. So we lucked out the next day for sure, getting money back on that phone and running into a T mobile product support dude who told us about freebie deal that ends tomorrow! We lucked out.
