There's no time limit before you have to pay. As a non-paying member, you can only play six games at the time and you can't join clans, enter sieges or tournaments. But those are about the only limitations there are.

Enjoy your stay here.

No, you can't be invited to tournaments. Very occasionally, a non-subscriber tournament is organised, but it's entirely up to the RHP elves to decide when, if ever, one of those is organised again. I wouldn't count on it.

I think a yearly subscription is about 30 US dollars, at the moment, and monthly subscriptions are available too. A pretty good deal, considering what you get for it and compared to the subscription rates at other chess sites.

Your free membership never expires, but if you want more than 6 games at a time, or want tournaments, clans, etc. then the link with information on subscribing is at the bottom of the page, or click on the star next to anyone's name.

The monthly rate isn't exactly a bargain, in my opinion.

regards, Marc

You mean such as Chessworld.net, at $19 per year?

Or Queen Alice, which is free (forums, tournaments, no restrictions)? Or FICS, which is free (forums, tournaments, no restrictions)?

And so on...?

this site is easier to get around in compared to chessworld.net. I find their site too confusing. I do like their tournament structure though, many more to join and even create your own.

Create my own? Blimey. You don't know me very wel. I think the best i could do is a blue peter job with card board and phlegm to hold it together. Yes, i said phlegm. Sorry. *Scuttles off into the corner making strange sounds*

I'm familiar with those cheaper sites. I still consider the subscription rates here a very fair deal.
