How about a new site rule, whereby anyone who publically announces in the forums that they are leaving RHP has their account deleted/blocked? It's the least we can do to help them, by helping them hold to their convictions.

i say strenuous, because i think there are many great friendships here and once in a while someone does have to stop rhping for whatever reasons and the community pulls together genuinely wishing the individual the best. these are wonderful moments created by wonderful people who expend a good part of their emotions and themselves in honest support.
i have another idea for contemplation though. suppose we made it a law or at least an understanding that
no one is allowed to leave. you are only allowed to have your subscription expire
that way announcing that you are leaving has no relevance since it is forbidden. hence all you can do is state "i will not renew my subscription on such and such a date".
if you can't leave, you can't come back. furthermore, now you can at least provide a specific date that everyone can be aware of.
