Point in time Annual New Year's Resolutions represent little more than the lowest common denominator opiate of good

intentions for the weak. Strong and focused people simply gut it out... striving to make sound decisions each new day.

Do you mean weak as in someone saying they are not going to post for a whole month, then posting within 3 days? 😉

We all need goals to strive for, without that what have you got? Just getting up each day and staying alive.

Interesting defensive take/spin on my imbedded meaning. My emphasis is on desirability of making sound decisions

daily. Yours focuses on my many failures to do so. Also, there's a marked difference between goals and 'resolutions'.

Yes... and obsequios bows to the herd, gratuitous farting and supercilious nitpicking.

targets:

To reduce my gameload to less than 20 games on here
To only spend 1 day of my weekends on job prep
To reduce drinking of cider (by 1-2 bottles a week)
To think of happy thoughts at least 5 times a day and smile 🙂

When you make a Resolution are you not aiming for a goal?

I saw no defensive spin from my side, I did notice you putting on your jock strap getting ready to do battle. Your meaning was not complicated, and actually quite clear, I didn't even need a dicitionary. 😉

I won't make any new threads until 2010.

Always say yes dear, no matter what it is, "yes dear", is usually the answer...Unless it is about the dress making the bum look big...NEVER say YES to this, that can lose a ton of brownie points. Most certainly don't say it has nothing to do with the dress, unless you are quite quick with your hands to block what follows. 😉

No. Goal represents a target. Point in time resolutions attempt to substitute

for ongoing positive acts of will. Nobody sees anything... when emotional.

You missed the whole point of the thread anyways.

Instead of lecturing you were suppose to be saying what your New Year Resolutions were. We know the day to day struggle it out doesn't work for you. 😉
