New York camera shops?

Bit of a long shot but I would be monster-grateful if anyone could recommend any shops in the Manhattan area of New York that sell digital cameras, and most importantly their location. [The camera that I am interested in is the Konica Minolta DiMAGE Z3, most camera shops will stock it].

I have a friend who is going to New York later this week and he's offered to buy me the camera while he is over there (two reasons why I would like to get it from the US: 1. potentially cheaper and 2. they don't sell the version I would like here in the UK). I'd like to be able to give him a few addresses before he goes. I've found two places using google but there must surely be more than just two - any help would be greeeeeeatly appreciated!

Many thanks,
T1000

Be very careful of the shops in the Times Square area. Yes, they have all manner of cameras and what might appear top be good prices, but they are known for using intimidation to cheat tourists. They also slip the proper camera out of the box and give you some cheap knock-off.

Try J&R Music and Computer World, I bought a Canon IXUS from there a few weeks ago and it seemed to stock most things at reasonable prices. It's downtown somewhere, you can find their web site at http://www.jr.com/.

Happy snapping!

John.

The ONLY place to buy photo equipment in the city is B & H Photo. Located at 420 Ninth Ave.

Amazing store, great prices, Professional and Normal Equipment! You can't go wrong.

Keep in mind, they're closed on Saturdays.

Yep, B&H is for the high-end camera buff/pro. Another suggestion is adorama.com, also in the Times Square area.

Yeah Adorama's good too, though considerably smaller. But then again, that's the deal with NY, often you go with what's close by.
