Have you found any valuables while shopping at a thrift store?
My whole life I've been interested in silver and gold and antiques and of course chess.
I visit thrift stores regularly and I always go to the books first and look for chess books.
Then I look for jewelry and after that I check the silver tableware and silverware.
Most of it is junk metal or silver plated.
My first valuable find happened last week when I found a saucer plate for $3.99 and because it was so tarnished and covered in wax the staff failed to see it was sterling silver and the coin store valued it at $420 and offered $380 to buy it. 😄
Some people go their whole lives and never land a find like that!
@diver saidThat was a very nice story.
I once bought a jigsaw puzzle from a charity shop.
When I got home and opened the box there was a map inside with clues
I followed the clues and the map directions
Back to the charity shop
Should we have another attempt to do a Prose competition?
@Ponderable saidI have never entered it, but yes, the forum would benefit from it.

I might enter if the word limit isn’t too long. I can’t define what “too long” is I’m afraid.
@diver saidActualy I think we got much less participation with the "short" froms.

Even if the limit is 3000 worde, you can offer a nice 250 word contribution standing good chance.
@Ponderable saidGood point; there is only a MAX not a MIN.
