I live on the outskirts of Flint, Michigan, USA. The local newspapers have two articles:

1) A 10 yr-old girl was molested by a rich businessman for many years. He was "supposedly" a friend of the poor girl's father and spent many nights at his house. During that time, after the parents went to bed, he would sneak in and pull the covers off the 10 yr-old girl. Then he would sit on her legs and sexually molest her. He did this TEN TIMES! So now that the little girl is older and going through theapy (yeah, this poor girl is really messed up) the incident came out. Guess what? The local prosecutor agreed to reduce the sexual abuse charges to a misdemeaner!!!

2) Meanwhile, this same prosecutor is trying to charge EVERYONE at a nightclub who attended because after police raided the joint, a couple of people at the site had drugs on them. The prosecutor's statement:
"Well, these people should have known that this was a drug house and they frequented it!"

Pardon me... WHY are people being treated so harshly for simply being at a nightclub? When this same idiot let the rich child molestor off!!?

Something's rotten here! 😠

EDIT: I apologize for hitting the send button before I could give the thread a title. Please give your response to this horrible situation.

And to think, Americans have one of the good judicial systems.
It is like the Oj case. Anyone with plenty of money can get off. Scratch that. They burned MArtha Stewart.
Did you hear that Michael Jackson is comparing himself to Neslson Mandela?

He is paid to represent a side, not to have a personal opinion on a case.

Thats just plain wrong...

What happened to public protests, people in your area should be outraged over this. That judge should be locked up if the molester gets away with only a misdemenour.

It's not the judge - it's the new prosecutor! He makes deals that would make your grandma turn over in her grave! 😠

Flint, Michigan eh? I've wanted to visit there ever since seeing Roger & Me. Kinda figured Michael Moore exxaggerated how bad it was there, like he always does, but either way, just to see some of the different things he pointed out in that movie and Bowling For Columbine. You've probably heard this a hundred times though, eh...

All of Moore's movies are RIGHT ON! The guy tells it like it really is, especially the last movie about George W. Bush.

You've wanted to visit Flint, Michigan? It's dangerous. There are a hundred places inside the city limits where the chances are good that you'll be shot, robbed, stabbed or car-jacked during broad daylight! Those odds increase 100 fold if it's dark. 😠

I think Flint is the only city where...

* a woman elementary school teacher robbed 6 banks! (talk about tough people! Even the women school teachers are tough!) 😲

* a man shot another man at a gas station for three $1 bills ($3).

* two men entered a bar at 3:00 in the afternoon and shot 3 people for a $20 bill. Killing 2 of them and wounding the 3rd.

* a Flint policeman was caught in a sting operation selling drugs.

* the dope man buys the recorded evidence from his tapped phone and plays it back to the person who turned him in.

* a local policeman pulled a woman over for speeding and molested her.

Yup, that's Flint. 😳

I don't feel like typing it all out right now but a lot of the information in Bowling For Columbine is false. Supposedly Moore admits it himself on the DVD, which I just bought yesterday coincidently and haven't watched yet. Anyways though, one thing I'll tell you is that his portrait of Canada is very wrong. I have a lot of friends in Canada and they all seperately told me flat out that 1) there is PLENTY of robbery there, 2) their news is NOTHING like what Moore showed (they say he either edited it to his liking or was in one of the most boring parts in all of Canada), and 3) none of them know anyone who doesn't lock their doors. Along with this, I've read he got lots of his facts wrong. So... think what you will. Not saying he's not a great filmmaker or that I don't like his movies, but he's definitely nowhere near 100% accurate.

One more thing: every city has it's problems and bad histories. Flint's is more well-known obviously, but either way, I shall visit one day. Just for you though, I'll bring TWO wallets, just incase. 😉
