Ok so a friend and i are wondering about something. He has recently switched to vodafone, thinking that Vodafone Passport was a plan for free texts abroad instead of cheaper calls abroad. (As far as i know there is no mobile network that has a free texts when abroad, offer).

Right so anyway, we are both also txting a friend who is in America.
I was told today by my friend (not in America) that his texts going abroad were free. However this was the case with me.....my texts abroad were free and i txted to Italy aswell as America and i was not charged.

We both have the free texts plan with our respective networks but that does not really explain why our texts to aborad are free.

So really, what i'm wondering is why are the texts we are sending abroad free.

Also i'm wondering what is gernally, the better network to be on?

My friend and i both live in Ireland so anyone else irish will probably be able to answer the questions easiest in terms of rates etc but all opinions are welcome!

Never heard of this free text abroad thing.

I have two phones, both pre-pay. One Meteor, one Vodaphone. Both on €20 fre txts and calls schemes.

Sorry i can't help you on which network is best, i only replied because nobody else had bothered their bollocks.

you're wondering why you're getting free stuff?

i don't think you're irish 😛

maybe you get a set no. of free texts abroad each month and then start to get charged? i can give you a few random numbers from abroad in which you can test my theory...the more insults the funnier.

everyone from the south i know is on meteor for the free online texts.

Well i mean i'm not complaining about it 😀

I suppose i'm wondering if i will continue to get them more so then why i get them, although i'd say if i knew why i would get them, then i would know if i would continue to get them...if that makes sense.

And it's ok haha i dont need to test , i've tested on America, Italy and Spain.
