As an American, I wonder what cultural place Hallowe'en has in other cultures around the globe.
(Intended as a companion thread to a similar but more specific thread I started the other day about the Southern Hemisphere. TBH, I think this one is a better way to pose the question, especially in a global chess forum.)

I feel iot being pushed down my throat by some buisness people wanting to make money from it. It has never a palce in germany.
@Ponderable saidin the uk it is thought of as a pagan/celtic harvest festival with pseudo christian allhallowstide,never big in the north of england,kids scraped out swedes(large turnips) and placed candels inside, its only the last few years where pumpkins have been used, not as popular as bonfire night.
