I was recently given some high quality asafoetida. It's not a spice I'm particularly familiar with and would like a recipe which shows off it's qualities. Any ideas?

It's not that odd, been around for years..Stinks a little. Good for stews and soups but use sparingly. I've been told brew tea with it, good for many ailments especially the cold. Look it up in the Internet..Ron

i think i read somewhere that it's good for curing flatulence. we could feed some to a few characters around here and see if they stop posting.

It's good fried in a tiny bit of oil before adding rice to your pot. Helps to make a nice fragrant pilau rice mix.

Asafoetida reduces the growth of indigenous microflora in the gut, reducing flatulence.
