Short boundaries... What a runs fest 615 in a 100 overs.

Smith looked very solid. Sorry Kallis, I know you poms liked getting him out on 49, great stuff Justin Kemp - our new Lance Klusener and honorable mention to Ashwell Prince.
Vaughan also looked solid, albeit a bit slow. Kevin bloody Pieterson almost won the game - if Boucher is in the side for his experience, then how the hell does he miss probably the easiest stumping in cricket history?

Was a very exciting game though.

Oi what a game!

It was fascinating to watch Kemp belittle the English bowlers like that, and the same could be said of Pieterson and the South African bowlers.

I think a lot of South Africans seem to be in two minds about Kevin Pieterson. On the one hand we'd like to feel some sort of patriotic pride that a boytjie from S.A. has done so well for himself... on the other hand he could be seen as a bastard for leaving the country and playing for England. He wasn't happy with our racially based quota system and it is debatable whether he would actually have a place in the S.A. team today. So, who's the bigger loser: South Africa, or Kevin Pieterson?

Well it seems that you missed a trick in not giving him a chance. Without him, England would have maybe got 260-270 last night.
To be honest SA set such an imposing total I though there was no chance of victory, but the final scoreline was quite close.
Kemp won it for SA really, clubbing all those sixes. I thought it was going to be closer to 325 until Gough finally bowled him!

What do you guys think of the short boundaries?
I think it's great, makes the game more interesting. It's much more fun watching guys hit 6s than 2 middle order batsmen trying to get a single per ball to long-off.

I'm just so angry I could kill someone. Ali is a prime candidate 😠 he's f@cking sh;t and a tw@t to boot.

Other than that, great game, top marks to both Kemp and Pietersen. I'm off to moan about the ridiculous idiocy of bowling full tosses to a batsman that's hitting you out of the ground every ball 🙁

Ha ha. I thought I'd be more charitable to SA and think they won it because they played well, especially since it ended up being close.
But in reality, I was fuming when Ali went for 20 of his first over. I thought there and then that we'd lost it. To be fair he was very tight for his next 7 overs, but gave away 25 (?) off an over again at the end. Everyone was getting slogged at that point but he included a no ball and a wide just to help them along!!
Problem is, who can we replace him with. Anderson or Harmison would scarcely be better at the moment. I think they sent Jon Lewis home, but I reckon he would be a better bet.

For the next two games we don't have many options with the bowlers. Keep faith with Ali and let him get some experience or hope Harminson remembers what he's meant to do with the little sphere of leather people keep throwing to him. Long term I'd like to see Simon Jones involved with the one day side. I think he's the right type of bowler and he hits the ball very hard too.

Can anyone explain to me why England need 213 to win when SA were all out for 211? Baffled...😕

Or is that only for Duckworth-Lewis if it rains?

Ahh. 2-1.

It was a D/L readjustment, but as the were all out I don't see how it applies.
Also, England saved their best bowlers for the end, using Vaughan and Collingwood for 5 apeice but is there any adjustment for that?

Game abandoned now.
