You're wrong on both counts. Japanese salarymen have the longest hours and the highest suicide rates.

I know that the salarymen, work too much, drink too much and that Japan has a suicide issues with both young men and salarymen.
It just goes to show that money doesn't = happiness.
You rarely see a poor farmer. Salarymen are not generally poor either.
I run a japanese restaurant (which is also long hours), but the day you see me cutting the fish is the day you eat elsewhere.
