There were 16. something million U.S. fans who tuned in at some point so I would say there was a little skin off of those USA noses. 😉

Don't kind yourself my Friend from the South, many U.S. fans do care, just not as many as in Canada, with a much smaller population.
Proportionally, the US does not care. Hockey is very distant in the sports minds of the US population and hockey does not stir the imagination of the general population - at all.

Pressure's on Canada, I'm telling you. Don't have to know or understand the game well to see that a team who won by outlasting an opponent and got lucky in it not being tied at the end up against a team that destroyed Finland had got to be questioning their play. Only human. Even though I believe Canada is the stronger team pressure can eat away at you. ...[text shortened]... ive that any team going up against the home ice advantage has to be considered the underdog!
We didn't get lucky at the end of the Slovakia game, Luongo made a game winning save!! He got a piece of it and deflected it wide.

Technically the US are the home team, they get the last change. They were ranked ahead of Canada in tourney since you won the earlier game. But the fans are obviously rooting for Canada.

I suppose it's silly to argue about much else now, I just wish I could still watch the Canadian team play! I'm a leaf man my team is brutal!

Then explain why 24 of the 30 teams are in the United States?

There has to be interest, or you wouldn't have the teams there. 😉

You personally my not be interested or your neighbour either, but there were over 16 million U.S. citizens that joined in at one point or another to watch the final game Canada vs. U.S.A!!

I watched that game as I did all the games that Canada played.

I remember Gord Miller (I believe it was) calling that game, and calling it off of the post. I heard it hit lou's pad, then I saw it go off to the opposite side on my big screen. It was hard to believe anyone could get their pad over there quick enough to stop that puck from the position that lou was originally in, but he did. A great save indeed!!!

I care. I was rooting hard for the US.

Canada is a (slightly) better team, but they did not outplay the US in the tournament. If anything, over-all, the US played slightly better than Canada.

But, no matter. Canada won the gold (although the US had the superior Olympics) fair and square. They earned it and they should enjoy it. And Team USA should enjoy its hard earned very respectable silver.

Technically the US are the home team,

He is absolutely correct, you just don't know enough about hockey to even get involved in the conversation.

The game was the U.S. home game, meaning they get the last change. A very important issue, as they can get the match ups they want.

Your Quote once again ends up being the IDOTIC one trev. You're an embarrassment to hockey fans everywhere! 😛

It would be nice if you remotely knew what you were talking about trev, but you don't.

Don't you feel like a raw burger?

You have any idea what the guy was talking about? Did you even bother to figure it out instead of calling everyone else EXACTLY what you are yourself! 😛

I think your are pathetic to think you speak for the RHP population, you would be quite an embarrassment as their spokesman as you are with you hockey knowledge. 😛 That is about all for now.

Have A Great Day BTW!! 😉

yes i know what he's talking about but come on.. to say the us had any home advantage in that game is laughable.

in the last minutes of a close game both side are going to have their best lines out there... regardless of 'who gets to pick last'.

hhmmm raw burger.

YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THE GAME!!!

That is not our fault!

If you really wanted to learn, I would spend some time to explain it to you, but you are just being a doorknob head!!! 😛

A game is 60 minutes long, not one or two shifts. You laugh at what you don't understand. Interesting!

Who said major advantage? Nobody! What was said was home game advantage which sounds strange, where the game is on Canadian soil.

The U.S. had advantage because by having home ice advantage they get the last change every single shift when the whistle is blown to stop play. This is why it is called home ice advantage. Canada has to put out their players on the ice first, then the U.S. can get what ever match ups they want, which is a U.S. advantage.

If Canada want to try and match a line the U.S. has put on that they don't like, they have to do it on the fly, or wait for the whistle for a face off. (Which leads us right back to the U.S. advantage again) This can be done on the fly, but you have to be very careful doing this. A bad change and the puck can wind up in your net.

WTF are you talking about, dude?

How exactly could anything I said possibly, possibly be construed as being anything remotely similar to being a "sore loser"?

And what does being underdogs have to do with anything I said?

You're either drunk or responding to the wrong post. 🙄
