One Good Thing That Happened Today

"I am determined to be cheerful and happy in whatever situation I may find myself.
For I have learned that the greater part of our misery or unhappiness is determined
not by our circumstance but by our disposition." ~Martha Washington

An unexpected email early this morning from a close friend which contained a photo of his lovely family.

Note from a friend who's leaving for her annual vacation tomorrow: "Gotta run, I'll send you a pic from Banff."

Finally replaced my awful genuine Samsung mobile phone battery with a good quality fake one.

Hey, great minds stink alike! I did the same, my T mobile store doesn't even have high powered batteries and the ones they sell are like 40 bucks. I found one with about 50% more energy storage for 17 bucks. It works a lot better than the old one which was making the phone get burning hot in my shirt pocket. That also went away with the new battery.

I completed my personal mind map of a study book chapter on the Windows CLI. Then I shot some virtual Nazis in Call of Duty 2, then started watching the film version of West Side Story. I made an abortive attempt to watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes earlier but quickly decided it was less fun than undergoing Chinese water torture. Earlier still, I watched French Open tennis but the only result I cared about didn't go the way I had wanted.

I make that 3 good things, 1 bad and 1 in between.

Both my sons took their first holy communion today after 5 months of study and preparation. Their grandparents are so proud.

It didn't rain yesterday and I was able to play my usual round of golf.

Found a finger of fudge this evening at the back of the fridge.

*Just to recap:

A finger o' Fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat,
A finger o' Fudge is just enough until it's time to eat,
It's full of Cadbury goodness, and very small and neat,
A finger o' Fudge is just enough to give your kids a treat.

golf? you like golf? there are I think five golf courses near where I live and when we were kids we used to hide in the bushes and when they pitched the ball onto the green we used to run out, swap it for an old ball and sell the new one we had just procured at school. True story.

I listened to the American band the Enflields and wished I was around in the early sixties! I love daydreaming, that was pretty good 😀

We finally managed to gather the neighbours for a BBQ - it's been too rainy, too windy and too cold - but this evening was the perfect time and very much appreciated by everyone.

Yesterday I received an unanticipated phone call from a dear friend who suggested that we meet for lunch today.
