Ok, my dear computer wizards, I got myself a lovely HP Mini laptop and I want to get rid of that MS Officer 60 day trial.
I've heard Open Office is the same thing, but for free... I will download it but I want to know first if I can take files to and bring files from Word, mainly because Word is everywhere and for example to print in my office I need to open the files into word.
Any other thing better than Open office, by the way? Recommendations?
Thanks, danke schöen, et.al.

Open Office has a great substitute for Word, can open/edit/save Word files.
The only thing OO falls flat with is Calc - the 'Excel' of OO.
Anyone who has ever really pushed Excel to it's limits will be disappointed, but for your basic monthly budgets etc. it works great.
I am far from a sophisticated user, really.
