Open Versus Closed

No, nothing whatsoever to do with chess game opening variations but everything to do with the six to seven inches between your ears, which

your brain still calls home. Closed minds are eventually subject to the onset and ravages of strong delusion. It's a common condition caused

by rejection of reality. The results include moodiness, hypersensitivity, depression, bitterness, inappropriate behavior and bizzare posturing.

Ignorance can be corrected over time. Willful stupidity can't be taught. It's unteachable because it's implacable and it's implacable because it

arrogantly rejects any and all authority other than its own. Only viable happy life alternative is the gradual enlightenment of an open mind.

Think i'll ignore it as i don't like reading unparagraphed blocks of text.

I also don't know what you are on about i'm afraid. I'm sure it's a good point though, but now i feel like you are testing my intelligence by being a bit cleaver. So i will ignore it. Yes, i will do that.....or will i...

phlab, you're like that kid that keeps telling the same joke thinking it's as funny as the first time he said it.

Too bad in your case it wasn't even funny the first time. Now you just look sad.

You can't compete at this level. Do what you do best...make us some more songs! You remind me of the Bright Eyes singer. You guys sound similar.

Nope. Not on your life. Not any of my business, now or ever, to presume to test you or anybody else on this site. Just one other

grateful subscriber expressing an honestly held opinion for your consideration, contradiction and/or comment. Your IQ is your biz.

#2. Unsure why but closed minds seem to love to advertise. Guys Friday night out many years ago, in San Antonio, colleague and close

friend (let's refer to him as Trent) was proposing late evening toasts. He was in high gear by the time he got around to me... "There are

only two problems with Bobby. He needs to learn how to go with the flow and to become more mediocre." We stayed in touch for years

after he quit his position and moved to Las Vegas. He was a whiz at analyzing the Daily Racing Form. Glitzy Sports Books were his passion.

Won frequently but always lost money. Risk averse, Trent would only bet chalk or near chalk. Needed the vindication of parimutuel support

and NV herd as much as he needed peer approval in business. This self aware guy sadly admitted he had lost his balls and sold his soul.

I prefer to keep my mind closed, because my thoughts are too volatile, and a cold is caught so easily. But I use my senses to communicate with the outside world.

#3. While I'm in a reflective mood, affectionately remembering Trent, here's a piece of advice he presumed to give me once on our drive

with our wives to a Saturday night rodeo in TX... "Whenever anybody complains or criticizes you to your face or gives you any deserved or

undeserved crap, all you need to say is 'Good feedback'." Worst self protective, defense mechanism cowardice I'd ever heard. He knew it.

P.S. Trent's attractive wife, Sylvia, always liked wearing outlandish hats. Evelyn said, "It's her flair and mark of incorrectness". I bought it.
