Bummer.
OpenOffice seems to be a good tool. I haven't used it much but a teacher of mine used to praise it a lot while denigrating MO.
But why OO?
As I'm not flush, and I don't want a cracked version of MO, I thought I'd go Open Source, like I am using FF not IE.
I'm also looking at Joomla (or at least I was before Xmas and further distractions) and am thinking of learning about Wordpress too.
It'd be cool to be an Open Source guru and encourage others to go that way.

Since in you are on the right path, the open source path, my advice is for you to learn some Latex when you have the time for it. Much better output than any word processor even though it is a little bit tricky to learn at first.

Maybe I will develop a Latex fetish [/nordlysism]
